COMMERCIAL FINANCING

Commercial financing opportunities are available through the Citizen Potawatomi Community Development Corporation, a unique financial institution specializing in promoting business investment in Indian Country.

The CPCDC differentiates itself in four distinct ways that of its conventional banking counterparts. It utilizes a more lenient credit analysis, in many cases requires less upfront capital from business owners and can allow a longer amortization period creating more flexible repayment terms. Most importantly, the CPCDC helps provide the technical assistance necessary to develop the skills needed to keep a business soluble and profitable.

The CPCDC provides funding for the following business purposes:

  • Commercial real estate acquisition
  • Commercial real estate refurbishment
  • Equipment
  • Inventory
  • Supplies
  • Working capital

The CPCDC prides itself in nurturing business of all sizes with loans in its portfolio as small as $5,000. On the other end of the spectrum, the CPCDC can independently offer loan funding up to $300,000. Credit requests in excess of $300,000 may be facilitated by the CPCDC, but will require participation from other financial entities.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Through the Citizen Potawatomi Nation’s own adult employment and training program as well as partnerships with local and statewide workforce development training programs, tenants at Iron Horse Industrial Park have a wealth of workforce training opportunities for future employees.

A regional population of more than one million people in the greater Oklahoma City-Shawnee metropolitan area provides a deep pool of human resources to hire from. Gordon Cooper Technology Center – a short ten minute drive from Iron Horse Industrial Park – is an excellent resource for beginning a new trade or retraining for a wide range of sectors.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

In recent years, Citizen Potawatomi Nation has signed academic partnerships with local higher education institution, Oklahoma Baptist University.

For the purpose of providing its tribal members and current employees with continuing higher education opportunities, the Citizen Potawatomi Nation reached academic program agreements with the institutions located just 15 minutes from Iron Horse’s location.

Oklahoma Baptist University

Oklahoma Baptist University and Citizen Potawatomi Nation signed a collaborative agreement between the two organizations to provide a corporate online MBA program for CPN to offer to its members, employees and constituents. The program is a cohort model, meaning all students go through the entire program together and are required to think critically in terms of how they can use what they learn to benefit Citizen Potawatomi Nation.

To accommodate working adults, the MBA is as flexible as possible. Course requirements, if preferred, can be completed in a unique 100% online environment where the MBA candidates are immersed in a virtual reality company called Central Products. OBU faculty supervise, coach and collaborate with the students as they participate (virtually) in the growth and development of the company.
